Cardiff Arms to Open Soon
October 22, 2007
The Cardiff Arms in Hirwaun High Street is set to re open soon after extensive refurbishment.
New owners Julian and Annie Barfield bought the closed down and neglected public house in August of this year aim to once again make the Cardiff Arms a social hub of the village.
‘Currently we are undergoing refurbishment of the building, stripping back layers of paint and grime to reveal the full potential of this once grand building’.
When the Cardiff Arms re-opens its doors to customers they will walk into a fresh and airy bar area that will not only be clean, warm and inviting but also one that will prove a perfect setting for socialising with family and friends, with natural wall colourings and lighting thus helping to create a light, bright and friendly atmosphere.
Julian’s family will also be joining them to live in Hirwaun, ‘it will be so nice for my parents as we originally come from the Llantrisant, Pontypridd area, with our family history steeped around the Freemen of Llantrisant (black army), my grandfather was the town plumber for Pontypridd as was my uncle until 25yrs ago when he retired.
Both Julian and Annie are look forward to getting to know the village and the community, saying ‘ we have been made to feel so welcome by the villagers that we have met so far. We look forward to meeting more of the Hirwaun community when we eventually re-open’.
