At the War Memorial wreaths were laid by representatives from Hirwaun Royal British Legion and those representing other organisations.

A lone bugler from the band played the Last Post.

Silence fell on Hirwaun as a traditional two minute silence was observed.

The bugler concluded by rousing everyone with the Reveille.

Service at Hirwaun War Memorial for Remembrance Sunday 2007

Perhaps the most important part of the Ceremony is the Exortation :

“They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old,
Age shall not weary them nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun, and in the morning
We will remember them.”

And all present respond : “We will remember them.”
