On the morning of Remembrance Sunday, representatives from local groups and their members, local dignatories and many others from the community join with members of the Hirwaun Royal British Legion to prepare for the parade march through Hirwaun to St Lleurwg’s Church for a Service at the Church, followed by a Service at Hirwaun War Memorial.

At St John’s Ambulance Hall in Meadow Lane Hirwaun, brownies, beavers, cubs, scouts, badgers, girl guides, cadets… and many others gather in preparation.

Local politicians including County Borough Councillors Graham Thomas (Rhigos) and Bill Myring (Hirwaun) are present.

Members of the Armed Forces are present, both past and present.

Standard-bearers prepare themselves checking their banners are in good order for parade.

Members of Merthyr Tydfil’s Salvation Army check their instruments.

Church representatives form part of the parade, dressed mainly in brilliant white ceremonial attire.

The Parade Marshall calls the Parade to attention, and the parade march towards the centre of Hirwaun village begins.
