Hirwaun Housing set for New Era

The launch of RCT Homes - the UK’s first ever housing Community Mutual Trust - marks a new era for local housing in Hirwaun.
Overnight, the transfer of the entire housing stock of more than 10,000 homes - including more than 300 in Hirwaun - from Rhondda Cynon Taf County Borough Council established RCT Homes as Wales’s largest social landlord.
RCT Homes’s constitution commits the organisation to promoting community involvement and to supporting economic regeneration and development of the communities it serves. Consequently, RCT Homes is obliged to work with other organisations to develop local skills training and to generate jobs by using local labour.
RCT Homes will invest £170 million in its properties over the next five years, the largest home improvements programme that Wales has ever seen.
