Appeal for Hirwaun Writers

April 24, 2008

Do you enjoy being inspired in your armchair to write short stories, or would you prefer to be amidst the tranquility of the countryside and pen some poetry? If so, then you are needed!

Following successful publications of the Rhondda Cynon Taf Libraries and Museum Service’s anthology of poetry and short stories, an invitation is extended to anyone who works, lives or studies in county borough to submit a short story or poem for inclusion in the next edition.

Last year writers throughout the county borough saw the launch of their work in all three main libraries in Rhondda Cynon Taf. A series of events were held at Pontypridd, Aberdare and Treorchy libraries where writers read extracts of their own work for the appreciative audiences.

There is no restriction to subject matter although short stories should be no longer than 6,000 words and can be in either Welsh or English.

An editorial team will select entries for inclusion and will launch the 2008 Anthology during the first week of October.

People who wish to submit entries can send them to Ros Williams, Area Manager North, Treorchy Library, Station Road, Treorchy, CF42 6NN. The closing date for entries is Monday, June 30th 2008.
